Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday extended warm birthday wishes to Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on her 51st birthday, lauding her dedication and contributions to the capital’s development.
Taking to social media platform X, PM Modi wrote, “Best wishes to Delhi Chief Minister, Smt. Rekha Gupta ji, on her birthday. Rising through the ranks, she has always remained active in serving Delhi. As Chief Minister, she has undertaken numerous initiatives for the city’s welfare. May she be blessed with a long and healthy life.”
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also greeted Gupta, praising her commitment to transforming Delhi. “You are working with commitment and diligence to realise the resolve of making Delhi one of the world’s finest capitals under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi ji,” he posted, wishing her a healthy and long life.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh echoed similar sentiments, highlighting Gupta’s rise from the grassroots. “Her passion towards social empowerment is praiseworthy. Praying for her long and healthy life,” Singh wrote.
Rekha Gupta, who became Delhi’s Chief Minister after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) reclaimed power in the capital following a 26-year gap, has had a long-standing political career rooted in grassroots activism.
She began her journey in 1992 at Daulat Ram College, where she gained recognition for her student leadership. From 2003 to 2004, she served as Secretary of the BJP Yuva Morcha in Delhi, later becoming its National Secretary. Between 2007 and 2009, she led the Women Welfare and Child Development Committee, and in 2010, she was appointed to the BJP’s National Executive.
The birthday wishes from the nation’s top leadership underscore Gupta’s growing stature in Indian politics and her key role in shaping the future of Delhi.
